As a wise person once said, "If you can't change the circumstances, change your attitude towards them."
Let me give an example: I am an extremely sensitive person, and sometimes even the slightest events, like someone cutting me off in traffic or a friend not answering the phone twice in a row, can throw me into a pit of sadness, bad mood, and unwillingness to do anything.
So, here are my methods to overcome almost any sadness:
Step 1: Understand what is bothering me. Step 2: Answer the question: Does the object of my sadness have consequences, such as "losing a friend," or no consequences, such as "being cut off in traffic"? Step 3: If there are consequences, imagine the worst-case scenario "losing a friend," and think about how I can handle it: "making a new friend," "spending time with family," "going on vacation," or "getting lost in work." After finding a solution for the worst-case scenario, use any method from Step 5. Step 4: If there are no consequences, and you have simply lost energy during an unpleasant event, skip Step 3 and move directly to Step 4. You need to get rid of the negative mood. To do this, I use the following exercise: I imagine holding a glass of water with all my negative thoughts in it. At some point, I realize that if I don't put the glass down, my hand will break, and I visualize putting the glass on the table. If it doesn't work the first time, repeat the exercise a few times. Step 5: "Recharge your battery." For this, I have identified several remedies for myself: "running," "running with music in nature," "meeting with friends," "watching a good movie," "listening to music alone," and "getting a good night's sleep." If you don't have the energy to run, brisk walking is also suitable. Everyone has their own secret to cheer up. Find yours!
I hope you have a great mood and believe that everything will be fine, no matter what! Give it a try - it's tested, it works, and it's beneficial to your health!
